Jever & Murray Lights and Shadows Interview

Jever & Murray from Denmark is providing us with the 6th episode of Lights & Shadows Podcast. With upcoming releases on Friday Lights Music and other really cool labels – this duo is really something to watch for! We asked them some questions to get to know them a little better:

1.Share with us some words about your early years and how did you become a DJ/Producer?

We have been friends for many years with a common interest in electronic music. Jever with a background making radio shows and DJ’ing while Murray has a background of DJ’ing and producing techno music with a few releases as a result of this. We have always talked about making music together, and we tried out for a few years, first off in Reason and then Logic which is what we use today + a lot of other stuff. One thing led to the other and finally, in 2014 we decided to launch Jever & Murray as a project aiming to bring dirty grooves for the dancefloors.

2.What were the main highlights that occurred for you since the start of your music career?

Well, it was a very big thing for us to have a release on the renowned Danish label Iboga, and of course our debut EP release on Friday Lights Music.

3.Is there a preferred artist that you like or look up to and/or strive to produce a track as powerful as his?

We strive towards our own sound, but we are certainly inspired by a lot of things, and if we have to mention just one artist, who we both agree on having an impact on our musical journey, it has to be Mauro Picotto.

4.Tell us, is it difficult to stay innovative and maintain a fresh outlook while producing electronic music?

At times it can be difficult, most people have their steady patterns which they rely on, but we do not create by any mantra, we do a lot of sparring with ideas and so forth, and perhaps, in this case, it is a good thing to be a duo.

5.What will we hear from you as you move ahead?

We are currently working on a live act to test out new material for hopefully future Jever & Murray releases.

6.Top Five: (Share with us your top five tracks that you like to use on the dance floor)?

Lars Wickinger – Takata (Derek Marin Remix)

Eelke Klein – Kitten Of Mass Destruction

Phonique – River (Robert Babicz Remix)

Jever & Murray – Reflections

7.Besides music, what else do you like to do?

We spend as much time as possible with family and friends. Besides that, we both enjoy relaxing to some NHL hockey.
